People of Achievement in Southern California was a live interview forum to discuss the work and histories of prominent local artists, artisans, authors, and book collectors. The program was produced from 1975 to 1985 by Norman Tanis who served as dean of the library from 1969 to 1990. Featured among the episodes are: composers and musicians Roy Harris, Johana Harris, and Ernst Krenek; artists Hans Burkhardt, Fritz Faiss, Atanas Katchamakoff, and David Kindersley; and authors Ray Bradbury, John Gardner, John Wilson, Gwen Bristow, Diane Wakoski, and George Nagel. Special attention to fine print production and collections are found in interviews with Jake Zeitlin, Ward Ritchie, Carl Haverlin, Muir Dawson, Maury Nemoy, and Elbert Thompson.
