John Broesamle is Professor Emeritus of History at California State University Northridge (CSUN) where he began teaching in 1968 and retired in 1998. CSUN commissioned Dr. Broesamle to write the first published history of the university in 1988. The resultant work was published in 1993 under the title, Suddenly a Giant: A History of California State University, Northridge. Among the sources used by Professor Broesamle were interviews he conducted with administrators, faculty members, and alumni between 1989 and 1991 that together provide various perspectives of the university ranging from its inception in 1957 to 1991. The interviews and transcripts presented in this collection were prepared from recordings preserved in the associated archival collection, John Broesamle Suddenly A Giant: A History of CSUN Collection.
