Elect Senator Jack B. Tenney
TitleElect Senator Jack B. Tenney
DescriptionJack B. Tenney was a California senator during much of the 1940s and early 1950s. Also known as "California's McCarthy," Tenney was a leader in the "anti-subversive" movement and, for a time, the head of the state's Un-American Activities Committee. (Interestingly, he was also a musician, and the composer of Gene Autry's hit song, "Mexicali Rose.") This item is a campaign sticker distributed during Tenney's unsuccessful bid for the U.S. Senate in 1944. It features an image of Tenney behind the nation's capitol building, and the words "Elect Senator Jack B. Tenney, U.S. Senator." 4 x 2.25 in.
