In 1967 the San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN) Matadors represented the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in the Junior Rose Bowl (played from 1946-1971 and 1976-1977). This 'Extra' edition of the Daily Sundial ran prior to the official announcement. The Junior Rose Bowl game was played December 2, 1967 and pitted San Fernando Valley State College against West Texas State (final score, West Texas, 35, Matadors, 13). In 2001, Jill Painter of the Daily News wrote that "the 1967 Junior Rose Bowl remains the most important, memorable and binding experience in the program's history." Newspaper, 16 x 10.5 in.
