San Fernando Valley State College's Chicano Demands. Like many campuses throughout the United States, San Fernando Valley State College (SFVSC, now CSUN) was the scene of Civil Rights and Anti-Vietnam protests. This friction between administration, faculty, and students led to this list of demands presented to the administration by the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) indicating a strong desire to create a Chicano Studies Department, including the implementation of specific courses aimed at the needs and interests of Chicano students, and the employment of Chicanos within the campus and community. Declaration, 14 x 8.5 in.
