Description	San Fernando Valley State College's Chicano Demands. Like many campuses throughout the United States, San Fernando Valley State College (SFVSC, now CSUN) was the scene of Civil Rights and Anti-Vietnam protests. This friction between administration, faculty, and students led to this list of demands presented to the administration by the United Mexican American Students (UMAS) indicating a strong desire to create a Chicano Studies Department, including the implementation of specific courses aimed at the needs and interests of Chicano students, and the employment of Chicanos within the campus and community.
