"El Popo" is the student newspaper produced by M.E.Ch.A. (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán) of San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN). The paper was launched by then-student Frank del Olmo, later a well-known Los Angeles journalist and voice for the Latino community. This is the front page of the first issue; topic covered include the grading system in East L.A. public schools and a rally in support of the California grape boycott (featuring speakers Rudy Acuña and Dolores Huerta). The newspaper continues to be produced by the students of the CSUN Chicana and Chicano Studies Department. Newspaper, 16 x 11 in.
