After Frank del Olmo's unexpected death in 2004, his wife, journalist Magdalena Beltrán-del Olmo, and journalist Frank Sotomayor edited a collection of his columns, offering views of historically relevant issues of the previous quarter century. Profits from the book sales were donated by the Los Angeles Times to the Frank del Olmo Memorial Scholarship Fund established by the California Chicano News Media Association and The Times. Frank del Olmo was born in Los Angeles, California on May 18, 1948. After attending both University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN) he joined the staff of the Los Angeles Times in 1971, serving as a reporter, columnist, and associate editor until his death. In 1984 he shared a Pulitzer Prize for a Los Angeles Times series on Southern California Latinos. Book, 9.75 in. x 7 in.
