It was in 1982 that the CSUN China Institute was formed. Its mission is "to promote a better understanding of the Chinese culture and to strengthen the friendship between American and Chinese peoples." Its role has been to facilitate educational and cultural exchange programs. CSUN has established more than 40 sister relationships with Chinese universities and governmental entities.
