Long-time Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley (1973-1993) walks with Herb Larson, then-Director of the National Center on Deafness (NCOD) at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). The NCOD was established in 1964 and its mission statement says that it: "provides communication access, leadership opportunities, scholarships, academic advisement, tutoring, and direct communication classes for approximately 200 students who are deaf and hard of hearing each year." Larson was also the host of the 1980s multiple Emmy Award-winning cable television show "off Hand" an interview series developed specifically for a deaf and hard of hearing audience. He retired from his post as director of the NCOD in 1999. Black and white photograph, 10 x 8 in.
