Topango Air Raid Wardens, July 1942. During World War II civil defense groups were formed in the Canyon. These people were responsible for making sure every dwelling had blackout curtains in place. The use of the name "Topango" is an old derivation of Topanga. For many years the spelling was not consistant. The only known people are in the center row, at left is Hugh Harlan, the front row, 4th from left, Edna Bartley. Photographer: Francis Photo S. M. Black and white photograph. 8 x 10 in.
