Description	A soap box derby accident on Bel Aire Avenue in Glendale, circa 1940s. The Soap Box Derby was named in 1933 when a Dayton Daily News photographer encountered three boys racing home-made, engineless cars and decided to encourage the youths by holding a competition complete with a prize. Soap box racing evolved into a nation-wide pastime. Photographer: Glendale Police Department. Black and white photograph, 8 x 10 in.
