In this letter, founding member and Community Service Organization (CSO) president Anthony P. Rios informs the membership of the creation of Barrio Enterprises, Inc. This venture was designed to enhance the lives of people living in barrios, produce income for CSO so that they might continue and expand their programs, and produce dividends for its investors. From its conception in 1947, the state-wide Community Service Organization (CSO) fostered a mission to the Mexican-American community to serve as a grassroots organization promoting empowerment. The organization was founded and grew through the efforts of Fred Ross, Edward Roybal, Dolores Huerta, Cesar Chavez, Herman Gallegos, and Anthony (Tony) Rios, under the auspices of Saul Alinsky's Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF). 11 in. x 8.5 in.
