Late in 1937, Dr. John Lechner of the American Legion submitted a report regarding Nazi activities in Southern California. In that report, Dr. Lechner apparently mentioned some of the activities of a Mr. R. Kunhe, the author of this letter. Mr. Kunhe wrote this letter to the Commander of the Los Angeles County Council of the American Legion in order to vehemently dispute the points put forth in Dr. Lechner's report, and to request corrections to the report. This is page one of a 2-page letter, typewritten, and on the official stationery of the Los Angeles office of the German American Bund. (Page 2 is in this collection: CRCms147b.) Mr. Kunhe does not indicate what his association is with the Bund, but rather signs the letter: "Yours very truly, R. Kunhe, Past commander of the German World War Vets." 11 x 8.5 in.
