Jack B. Tenney was a California senator during much of the 1940s and early 1950s. Also known as "California's McCarthy" Tenney was a leader in the "anti-subversive" movement and, for a time, the head of the state's Un-American Activities Committee. Tenney compiled this work to present his findings from State and Federal investigations of Communist and Marxist organizations in this country. This is the title page of the book; also shown is the page facing the title page, featuring a political cartoon. Depicted in the cartoon are Stalin and Hitler on facing balconies; two pathways are below, one labeled "COMMUNISM" and the other labeled "FASCISM". They lead to a swirling black cloud in the distance, labeled "DICTATORSHIP". 9.5 in.
