| Title | Don't Let America Down |
| Description | This is a reprint of an advertisement run in the Louisville Courier-Journal in July, 1940. It was a cautionary message, urging Americans to be mindful of the many individuals and groups seeking to undermine democracy and perpetuate fascist ideologies. It states in part: "One of the favorite methods of these traitors is the circulation of vicious pamphlets attacking some minority group -- Catholics, Masons, Jews -- pamphlets unsigned and undated, full of falsehoods and extravagant charges." It recommends that any suspicious literature be turned over to the FBI. The announcement was accompanied by an editorial in the newspaper that day. Editor & Publisher magazine lauded the Courier-Journal for their efforts to educate the public in this matter, and printed an editorial on July 27, 1940, to express their support. A copy of their editorial is included here also. This entire reprint was distributed to various media outlets by the Anti-Defamation League; see their accompanying cover letter, in this collection, # CRCms180. 23 x 11 in. |
